Spring Cleaning!

Spring is here and it brings with it warmer temperatures, longer nights, new flavors, and the opportunity to clean deep to prepare for the beautiful months ahead. Are you looking to make some cleaner decisions for yourself? Here are some tips from the Pilates on Purpose family to help!

1.      Get Sleep!
To truly reap the benefits of healthy changes, you need to allow your body time to rest and rejuvenate in order to receive them. And this healthy change is really fun!

2.      Drink Water!
Our team cannot stress enough the importance of staying hydrated. Being well hydrated promotes everything else to work well. Try making your water interesting by making “Sexy Spa Water!” Add lemon, orange, mint, and cucumber to your water to make it more tasty to drink, provide vitamins and nutrients, and promote good gut health.

3.      Baby Steps
If you are really looking to revamp your diet and exercise regime, start small and get bigger with time. Making large, drastic changes can be overwhelming and could ultimately set you up for a relapse. However, if you make small, positive changes one at a time, you will slowly start to build until all of the sudden you have completely cleaned your life!

4.      Avoid too much salt and too much added sugar
Having too much salt or too much sugar is bound to set you back in your goals and make you not feel so great in the process. Too much salt can cause you to bloat, too much sugar promotes weight gain and fatigue. Be mindful of what you are putting on your body.

5.      Set Your Kitchen Up for Success
Throw out the junk food and bring in the lean proteins, healthy fats, complex carbs, and lots and lots of vegetables and fruits. The more healthy food is accessible, the more likely you are to eat them. Since it is spring, enjoy the bounty of spring produce: artichokes, asparagus, sweet peppers, carrots, baby lettuces, berries, and more!

And of course, keep moving your body! At Pilates on Purpose, our team can help you lose weight, tone muscles, and feel like your best self. So let’s head into spring together clean and strong!
